India is a country with more than one billion people, and just one-third of are literate. Besides basic human needs like food, clothing and shelter, perhaps nothing else ranks higher than education to empower humans to eke out a living and support themselves . Poverty affects people of ages, however, the lifelong effects of poverty are perhaps most debilitating amongst children with the impact it has on a long term. With 1.21 billion people living below the poverty line in India, the children are sure to bear the repercussions of it more than most others .
Not only does poverty affect a child’s development and educational outcomes, it also severely affects a child’s morality and understanding of the right and wrong. The literacy ratio of India is 65.38% with male literacy at 75.85% and female literacy at 54.16%. Of the 193 million Children in the age group 6 to 14 years, 8.1 million children are out of school as of Sept 2004 as per Government statistics. Net primary enrolment ratio in 2001/02 is 83.7%. Children reaching grade 5 in 2000/01 is just 59.8 %.
We, at Melech Foundation dedicate ourselves to bridge the gap to fulfil this educational need. Nearly 24% of children drop out of schools and 17% of children don’t even find the need to go to school. We are striving hard for empowerment through education. We are conducting Free tuitions for dropout and kids who cannot afford schools. Our teachers are highly trained and qualified for this field work.
Now you can join with us in the Empowerment of the young generation by doing the following,
Family is of huge importance in society for Indian and it is a dominant institution in the life of an individual. With the second largest population in the world, and often three or more generations often found living together under one roof showing just how much of an importance family life is in the country. Though there are many generations living together as family in our country, there are many orphans, helpless widows and abandoned individuals who long to have a family bonding.
The sad reality though, is that if a good and caring person is not there to provide what they need, who is? The end result is truly heart-breaking as many of the orphan children out there will die of starvation and issues related to malnutrition. They will die from preventable diseases. They will die at the hands of others and themselves. They will spend much of their life in jail. They will do harm to others and impact the world in a negative fashion.
We at Melech Foundation tend to make a feeling family atmosphere for such orphans, under privileged and neglected people of the society. We make them feel as an inclusive in this society. By giving them the care and affection we help them to focus their lives on positive things, which eventually leads to a better inclusive world.
Unemployment and underemployment lies at the core of poverty. The creation of productive employment opportunities is essential for achieving poverty reduction and sustainable economic and social development. Rapid economic growth can potentially bring a high rate of expansion of productive and remunerative employment, which can lead to a reduction in poverty.
It is crucial to provide decent jobs that both secure income and empowerment for the poor, especially women and younger people. Nevertheless, the contribution of the growth process to poverty reduction does not depend only on the rate of economic growth, but also on the ability of the poor to respond to the increasing demand for labour in the more productive categories of employment.
There are only few organisations and institutions who concentrates on the un-employed youths of the poverty line families. There are many groups, organizations and institutions that are working towards poverty eradication and social upliftment, but the success rate is very slim. The reason is simple, lack of people’s participation. We can’t eradicate poverty nor provide education without people’s active participation. There is no denying of the fact that more supportive hands can share the burden easily, so everyone must join hands to address the plight of our society.
Our focus is to cultivate the habit of social responsibility in the human beings that we come across and instigate them to align with the most important human values. We seek the following,
